Cisco Moves to Guard Network Brand as AI Reshapes Industry
Mar/09/2026
On March 3, Cisco Systems sought additional time to challenge the U.S. trademark application for 'TISCO NETWORKS', arguing that the mark overlaps with the networking giant’s well-known brand across a sweeping array of technology goods and services, from networking hardware and cloud platforms to cybersecurity, telecommunications infrastructure, and software development. The move comes as Cisco highlights the growing importance of reliable digital infrastructure in the age of industrial artificial intelligence. In a recent survey of manufacturing executives across 19 countries, the company found that while 59% of manufacturers have already deployed AI at scale—particularly in automation, logistics optimization, and quality inspection—many still struggle with unreliable connectivity, cybersecurity risks, and gaps between IT and operational technology teams. Even so, confidence in AI’s long-term benefits remains high: most manufacturers expect the technology to strengthen productivity, resilience, and security, suggesting that the next phase of industrial transformation will depend as much on robust networks as on algorithms.
