Walmart Expands Digital Footprint with New Trademarks Amid Revenue Surge
Aug/20/2024

On August 7, Walmart filed a series of trademarks in the US, including 'SPARK SHOPPER' for a suite of downloadable and online software designed to streamline personal shopping and delivery management. This encompasses tools for organizing grocery, take-out, and general merchandise orders, coordinating drivers, and overseeing quality control in the delivery process. Additionally, Walmart filed 'WALMART LOCALFINDS' and 'LOCALFINDS' for a service offering online grocery and merchandise ordering with home delivery, alongside temporary access to software for online commerce management. This move aligns with Walmart’s robust performance, as evidenced by Walmart Connect’s 30% revenue growth year-over-year for fiscal Q2 2025, driven by an influx of marketplace sellers. The retailer reported a 4.8% increase in consolidated revenue to $169.3 billion, with global e-commerce sales rising 21%, and provided a positive outlook for Q3 and the full year, anticipating net sales increases of 3.25% to 4.25% and 3.75% to 4.75%, respectively.
