Gymshark Expands U.S. Presence with ‘VITAL’ Trademarks and First American Store Feb/17/2025

On February 6, Gymshark filed U.S. trademark applications for ‘VITAL’ and ‘VITAL SEAMLESS,’ covering fitness apparel such as leggings, t-shirts, sports bras, and jackets, as well as various retail services, including online, wholesale, and pop-up stores. The move underscores the British activewear giant’s ongoing expansion, as it transitions from a digital-first brand into a more established global player. Founded in 2012 by CEO Ben Francis in his garage, Gymshark leveraged social media and fitness influencers to build an e-commerce empire, with online sales soaring from $13.3 million in 2015 to a peak of $548.3 million in 2021. While still primarily a direct-to-consumer brand, Gymshark has been steadily increasing its U.S. footprint and is now preparing to open its first American flagship store at 11 Bond Street in New York City. Set to debut in late 2025, the 13,000-square-foot location will span four floors, featuring retail space, workout studios, and interactive fitness experiences. This expansion follows its London flagship opening in 2022, marking another step in Gymshark’s evolution from a niche startup to a dominant force in the athletic apparel industry.
