TikTok Expands Its Trademark Footprint as U.S. Sale Standoff Intensifies
Dec/08/2025
TikTok is pressing ahead with an ambitious expansion of its product ecosystem even as its future in the United States hangs in limbo, filing two wide-ranging trademarks— TIKTOK: BUSINESS CENTER, a full-stack suite for advertising, analytics, content production, and enterprise workflow management, and TIKTOK GO, a travel- and discovery-focused platform offering socially driven rankings, virtual tours, guides, and media-rich reviews. The filings underscore ByteDance’s intent to deepen TikTok’s role in commerce and local discovery just as Washington threatens to expel the app unless it is sold to a U.S. owner by December 16. Despite repeated assurances from the White House that a deal is imminent, Beijing has withheld approval, leveraging the negotiations as part of a broader geopolitical bargaining cycle that touches on trade, regional alliances, and even Taiwan. With deadlines repeatedly extended and political incentives mounting on both sides, TikTok’s aggressive trademark strategy stands in stark contrast to the regulatory uncertainty that could, at any moment, switch the platform off for millions of American users.
