Lego Tightens Brand Defenses After Domain Victory
Feb/23/2026
Lego Holding has moved to reinforce its trademark perimeter, seeking extra time in February to oppose the mark 'Pegoland' for construction-related goods — a step that follows a successful WIPO action against the domain lego-video-games.com. In that case, a panel ordered the transfer of the domain after finding it incorporated the well-known LEGO mark in its entirety and was used to host online games while displaying Lego’s logo, thereby creating a false impression of affiliation. The panel concluded that the registrant lacked any legitimate interest and had acted in bad faith, noting both the commercial exploitation of Lego’s reputation. Together, the domain ruling and the Pegoland opposition underscore a consistent strategy: safeguarding one of the world’s most recognizable toy brands across digital platforms and adjacent product categories alike.
