The recent filing with the USPTO covers categories such as musical sound recordings, entertainment marketing, artist management, and online non-downloadable sound and audiovisual content. This comes after Sony reported a 37% rise in net profit to €3.4 billion for the financial half to September, driven by strong demand in gaming and semiconductor sectors. The company’s half-year operating profit surged 42% to €4.4 billion, with consolidated sales up 2% to €35.7 billion, prompting an upward revision of its full-year revenue outlook to €76.7 billion by March 2025.
