Apple Defends Trademark as It Files New Application for Language Translation Software Oct/21/2024

On October 8, Apple Inc. filed a figurative trademark for its language translation app. Shortly after, on October 17, Apple requested an extension to oppose a trademark filed by Cronometer Software Inc. The contested trademark covers a mobile app that tracks nutrition, fasting, diet, biometrics, and exercise, and offers downloadable data files, articles, and podcasts on diet and wellness. Apple’s opposition is based on the similarity between Cronometer’s figurative trademark and Apple’s iconic logo. Following visualizations show Apple’s new trademark as well as a comparison between Apple’s logo and the potentially opposed Cronometer logo, illustrating the basis of Apple’s concerns.
