Westinghouse at a Crossroads: Nuclear Expansion and Brand Protection

Westinghouse at a Crossroads: Nuclear Expansion and Brand Protection Jun/01/2026

Westinghouse has strengthened protection of its long-established brand through successful domain-name disputes. In one case, the company secured the transfer of westinghousoutdoorpower.com, a typographical imitation of its former outdoor power equipment website that redirected users to AI-generated content and advertising pages. The WIPO panel concluded that the domain was deliberately designed to exploit confusion with the WESTINGHOUSE trademark and was registered and used in bad faith. Another ruling transferred westinhouse.com, a typo-squatted domain that omitted the letter 'g' from WESTINGHOUSE and was linked to redirects and fake McAfee security warnings that the panel described as potentially facilitating malware distribution. The panel found no legitimate use of the domain.
