Temu Takes Legal Action Against Cybersquatters and Fake App Distributors Apr/01/2024

Whaleco, Inc., operating under the name Temu and a subsidiary of the Nasdaq-listed Pinduoduo Inc. (PDD), has initiated legal proceedings in the U.S. District Court in Illinois against entities accused of cybersquatting and distributing unauthorized versions of its popular shopping app. Temu, which has gained considerable traction for offering affordable goods with the enticing slogan “Shop like a billionaire,” especially following its prominent Super Bowl advertisement campaign, contends with infringement issues stemming from domains such as temuh.com, temumore.com, and temu-shopping.com. The company points out that these domains, particularly temuh.com, which previously redirected visitors to another discount goods site, dashmee.com, before both started forwarding to Google's public DNS service, might mislead consumers. This chart compares global traffic for TEMU with Chinese e-commerce platforms, in millions.
