Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, AAG operates a vast network spanning 55 countries with a fleet exceeding 1,500 aircraft and nearly 7,000 daily departures. Known for serving almost 200 million passengers annually, American Airlines is a dominant player in the domestic market, holding 17.5 percent of U.S. market share as of 2022. The recent case involved <americanairlinesapp.com>, registered by Domain Privacy Inc., which featured pay-per-click ads and was offered for sale. The WIPO panel ruled the domain was registered in bad faith and was confusingly similar to AAG’s well-established trademark, reinforcing the airline’s efforts to protect its brand in the digital sphere as it continues on its path to recovery post-pandemic.
