Mark Wahlberg's Municipal Opens First Permanent Store in West Hollywood Jul/12/2024

Actor Mark Wahlberg’s performance-driven clothing brand, Municipal, has inaugurated its first permanent brick-and-mortar store at 8609 Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood, California. The 1,000-square-foot Municipal Pro Shop, designed to evoke the feel of a sports club, follows a seven-month pop-up stint in New York City’s Hudson Yards. The store features Municipal’s performance apparel and footwear, inspired by tennis, golf, and pickleball, alongside products from emerging Los Angeles brands like Les Monts eyewear, LAB Putters, and Sub 70 golf. Municipal, founded in 2020 by Wahlberg, Harry Arnett, and Stephen Levinson, plans to expand with a 6,000-square-foot location in Carlsbad, California, in September, which will include a coffee shop, barber shop, and lounge. Future stores are envisioned for Las Vegas, Phoenix, Atlanta, Boston, and New York. The West Hollywood store offers amenities such as indoor putting mats and complimentary snacks and beverages from Urth Caffe. Municipal has also partnered with high-profile athletes like Myles Garrett and Hendon Hooker, leveraging celebrity endorsements to enhance brand visibility and credibility. A JLL report highlights Los Angeles as the top destination for celebrity-backed retail brands, noting over 300,000 square feet of space opened by such brands in the past decade. Recently, other celebrities like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga have also launched new retail ventures.
